One of my many favorite moments from Avengers: Endgame (2019) was when Nebula and Rhodey go to Morag to retrieve the Power Stone. She sticks her robotic arm through the forcefield and grabs it. She’s then embarrassed at the damage which highlights her largely synthetic body. She says to Rhodey, a paraplegic, disabled veteran, “I

I didn’t pay any attention to this when it came out nearly ten years ago, but at the time I was running a small business and had little free time. The trailers for the sequel got me interested, and I must say this was highly entertaining. I appreciate the handling of autism throughout the film,

I’m sure in the content-starved era of the 1980s, these early Raimi/Campbell collaborations were very well received. I was a mere child at the time and missed out on seeing these in their prime. That positive reception of yonder year is transformed today into nostalgic reverence among my fellow Gen Xers. Today, with the glut

Having never owned a Play Station, I didn’t know this film was based on a PS3-era game. Going into it blind, I was pleased with the overall production. First half is a solid horror film with good effects. The characters figure out pretty quickly they’re in a horror film, which is always refreshing. The second

In a word, this film was beautiful. Gallons of blood, sure, but beautiful nonetheless. Richly complex characters expertly portrayed by Michael B. Despite what some would have us buy into, it’s still Black History Month, and that matters. You can stream They Cloned Tyrone on Netflix, and I think you’ll be glad you did. It makes me look at John Boyega as a serious actor since I never got that vibe from his work in Star Wars.

Quick review: As a strident MCU fan, I’ll say this was good. Not great, but good. No mid-credit scene, and the end-credit scene was a little dissatisfying, but that may just be me. I think this film suffered from too many re-writes without a fresh approach. By this I mean, the first folks wrote it,

I’ve worked with people who went from high school to college and then right into their field – teaching, directing, acting, what have you. They often seem frustrated that life isn’t working out the way they expect…the way they were taught to expect. I think it’s because they are gaining experience and don’t recognize it.
