I’ve never seen a James Gunn movie I didn’t really, really like. This was great, from start to finish. He took a page from MCU Spider-Man and wisely didn’t do the whole “death of Krypton” story again. Brief set up explaining the presence of metahumans on Earth, and then right into the story, in media res. Funny, a little touching, great action, aware of its own tropes.

I was brought up on the original Richard Donner Superman movies, and I thought Henry Cavill was great, despite being in the Snyderverse. Even Brandon Routh was a good Superman in his homage to Christopher Reeves. David Corenswet picks up the mantle and carries it perfectly for our day. I’ll probably go see this again next week.
