I’m sure in the content-starved era of the 1980s, these early Raimi/Campbell collaborations were very well received. I was a mere child at the time and missed out on seeing these in their prime. That positive reception of yonder year is transformed today into nostalgic reverence among my fellow Gen Xers. Today, with the glut of content available to stream, if you have not already seen these movies, there is no justifiable reason to do so. These are to cinema what self-published teen fanfic is to literature. Just don’t.
